- On December 6, the UMEED Central Portal for management of Waqf Properties in India, launched on June 6 by Union Minister for Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju, closed for uploads, completing its six-month upload window.
- Launched under Supreme Court directions and the Waqf Act, 1995, the portal provided a six-month window for State/UT Waqf Boards and Minority Departments to upload property details.
- According to the Ministry of Minority Affairs, 5,17,040 Waqf properties were initiated on the portal, 2,16,905 properties were approved by designated approvers, 2,13,941 remain in the pipeline, and 10,869 were rejected during verification.
- Intensive implementation steps by senior teams and zonal meetings included more than 20 review meetings by Chandra Shekhar Kumar, a two-day Master Trainer Workshop in Delhi, 7 zonal meetings, and a dedicated helpline, the ministry said.
- No new entries are permitted on the portal, though ministries will proceed with verification, and the Ministry of Minority Affairs said this phase marks a milestone under the UMEED framework.
