Ukrainian Pilot Dies After MiG-29 Fighter Shot Down by Russian Missile
The Air Force said the 40th Ghost of Kyiv Brigade pilot was hit by an enemy missile and died after ejecting from his MiG-29.
On Thursday, Captain Marat Redvanovych Mambetov of the 40th 'Ghost of Kyiv' Tactical Aviation Brigade was killed during a combat mission, the Ukrainian Air Force reported via Facebook.
Mambetov was carrying out missile and bomb strikes against Russian occupation forces when his aircraft was hit by an enemy missile in an unidentified sector of the front.
Although the flight commander was able to eject after his MiG-29 was struck, Air Force Command reported that he did not survive his injuries.
The Ukrainian Air Force expressed sincere condolences to the family and loved ones, stressing that Mambetov defended Ukraine until his last breath.
According to Censor, reports of the incident appeared on Facebook, identifying Mambetov as a flight commander within the 40th 'Ghost of Kyiv' Tactical Aviation Brigade.
