The National Bank of Ukraine has revised its GDP forecast for the Ukrainian economy in 2026 downwards from 1.8 to 1.3 percent. Additionally, the State Statistics Office of Ukraine estimates that real GDP fell by 0.5 percent compared to a year ago. A severe winter, delayed foreign aid, and Russian attacks on the energy system are contributing to a more pessimistic outlook on the Ukrainian economy.

Ukraine's real gross domestic product (GDP) in the first quarter of 2026 decreased by 0.5% compared to the first quarter of 2025, following growth of 3.0% in the fourth quarter of last year, 2.1% in the third quarter, 0.7% in the second quarter, and 0.8% in the first quarter, the State Statistics Service reported on Tuesday.
