The House of Representatives passed the National Defense Appropriations Act (NDAA), which serves as the de facto U.S. military budget, by a majority of 312 votes to 112. The act prevents the Trump administration from reducing U.S. troops in Europe below certain levels without prior congressional approval.
The elected officials did not take on their own the disengagement of the Old Continent promoted by the Trump administration. The defence law for 2026 limits the Pentagon's margin of manoeuvre on the level of troops deployed in Europe.
