UCLA researchers develop scalable TCR therapy for solid tumors
The engineered cells multiplied about 100-fold and controlled ovarian and melanoma tumors in mice without graft-versus-host disease, researchers said.

UCLA researchers develop scalable TCR therapy for solid tumors
T cell receptor, or TCR, therapy is a cancer treatment that genetically reprograms immune cells, called T cells, to hunt down cancer with precision. It's similar to another treatment, CAR T-cell therapy, but with one key difference: CAR T-cell therapy can only spot proteins that naturally appear outside of a cancer cell.

T-cell receptor, or TCR, therapy is a cancer treatment that genetically reprograms immune cells, called T cells, to hunt down cancer with precision. It's similar to another treatment, CAR T-cell therapy, but with one key difference: CAR T-cell therapy can only spot proteins that naturally appear outside a cancer cell. TCR therapy, however, can also catch small protein fragments from inside the cell that are carried to the surface and displayed like little name tags.
Immune therapy on stock: Uniform, genetically programmed T cells can be produced in large quantities from stem cells of the umbilical cord blood. In cell cultures and mouse models, these AlloESO-T cells attacked various solid tumors via two detection pathways and caused less severe immune reactions than conventionally modified donor T cells. Whether the concept also works in humans is still open. Los Angeles (U.S.A.). T cell receptor therapies (…
UCLA Scientists Engineer Ready-to-Use Cancer-Fighting T Cells for Solid Tumors
UCLA researchers have developed a way to mass-produce cancer-fighting T cells from blood stem cells found in cord blood, engineered to target a protein found in many solid tumors -- creating uniform batches instead of custom treatments for each patient.
