Uber Eats has a fix for pesky returns. You can just sit on the couch
The feature covers eligible items from participating retailers and gives customers an instant refund when a courier picks up the return, Uber said.
On Friday, Uber Eats launched a courier pickup service for retail returns, allowing customers to schedule pickups for instant refunds across nearly 5,000 U.S. cities without leaving home.
According to a survey by post-purchase platform Route, 43% of shoppers cite waiting for refunds as the most stressful return aspect, while roughly one in three struggle with packaging and printing labels.
Nine retailers including Target, Best Buy, and Dick's Sporting Goods participate at launch; items must cost at least $20, weigh under 30 pounds, and incur a $5 pickup fee.
Uber aims to add 'stickiness' to its app by positioning couriers as a general-purpose logistics platform, optimizing fleet efficiency beyond food delivery and ride-hailing.
Market data shows U.S. returns totaled $850 billion in 2025, according to the National Retail Federation, as Uber plans to add retail partners and compete with Amazon in reverse logistics.
