Two Dead in Small Plane Crash in Adelaide, Australia
The crash sparked a major fire and injured 10 people on the ground, while investigators are examining the plane and wreckage.
On Wednesday, a Diamond DA42 aircraft crashed into a hangar at Parafield Airport in Adelaide, killing the pilot and passenger while injuring 10 people inside the structure.
Chief Inspector Andrew McCracken confirmed the plane struck hangar 54 shortly after takeoff, damaging the fire hydrant system and intensifying the fire that required 57 Metropolitan Fire Service firefighters to extinguish.
Ten people on the ground were injured, including one person suffering life-threatening burns transported to Royal Adelaide Hospital, while six others experienced smoke inhalation.
Authorities established a 24-hour cordon around the site, while Premier Peter Malinauskas praised the "courageous response" of emergency teams to the "tragic incident."
Specialist investigators from the Australian Transport Safety Bureau will arrive on Thursday morning to examine the wreckage and recover components for further analysis.
