Two Iranian nationals charged over alleged terrorism plot targeting Jewish community
On Friday, British police charged two Iranian nationals, Rahman Salehi and Salam Ahmadyan, with preparing terrorist acts against the Jewish community in Manchester ahead of Yom Kippur.
Authorities arrested the men on September 20, 2026, in Manchester and Salford, alleging they maintained contact with an overseas third party in Iran regarding the suspected plot.
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Vicki Evans of Counter Terrorism Policing described the charges as "extremely serious charges and allegations," stating the investigation disrupted a plot targeting the Jewish community.
Evans reiterated that authorities do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the public, urging citizens to remain vigilant and report concerns to police.
Prosecutors charged both men under Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006 for engaging in conduct in preparation for terrorist acts against the Jewish community.
