Two IDF service members injured in accident in Lebanon over the weekend
The IDF is examining whether throwing technique or a collision caused the blast that seriously wounded one soldier and moderately wounded another.
On Friday evening, two Israeli soldiers were wounded in Majdal Zoun, southern Lebanon, during operational activity; a conscript soldier was seriously injured and a combat officer moderately wounded.
Troops from the Gefen Battalion, operating under the 91st Division, were engaged in operational activity when one soldier threw a grenade improperly during the incident.
Both soldiers received initial treatment at the scene and were later evacuated to Rambam Health Care Campus in Haifa for medical care.
Separately, eight IDF soldiers were lightly wounded in an operational traffic accident involving two vehicles on Friday in southern Lebanon and evacuated for medical treatment.
The IDF is examining whether the grenade struck an object after being thrown, as military authorities continue investigating the circumstances of both incidents.
