Two Killed as Man Allegedly Under Influence of Drugs Attacks Security Guards in Lagos
Police are reviewing CCTV footage and questioning the cinema’s chief security officer as investigators seek the attacker’s identity and sequence of events.
- On Friday night, a man armed with a machete and knife attacked security personnel at IMAX Cinemas in Lekki, Lagos State, resulting in two confirmed deaths.
- Eyewitnesses reported the man became violent after security guards prevented him from entering the premises; he allegedly stabbed one guard to death and injured another.
- Following the initial attack, the suspect reportedly died in an ensuing mob incident. Lagos State Police Command spokesperson SP Adebisi Abimbola confirmed "two people have been confirmed dead."
- Adebisi Abimbola disclosed that the cinema's Chief Security Officer has been taken into custody as investigations continue. Police are examining CCTV recordings to establish the sequence of events.
- The incident has raised significant security concerns at recreational facilities in Lagos State. Police have yet to release the identities of the two deceased persons.
