Two children die in Wolverhampton house fire

Police said firefighters rescued the children and medics gave advanced life support before they were pronounced dead at the scene.

  • Emergency responders including Police, West Midlands Fire Service, and West Midlands Ambulance Service were called to Mason Street at about 20:30 BST on Friday.
  • Firefighters entered the property to rescue the two children, but they could not be saved; Medics worked "rapidly to administer advanced life support to both children but tragically they were both confirmed dead a short time later," West Midlands Ambulance Service said.
  • Two other children and a woman had evacuated before emergency services arrived and were checked over by ambulance staff but did not require hospital treatment.
