Two children die in Wolverhampton house fire
Police said firefighters rescued the children and medics gave advanced life support before they were pronounced dead at the scene.
Two children died in a house fire in Wolverhampton on Friday evening, West Midlands Police have said.
Emergency responders including Police, West Midlands Fire Service, and West Midlands Ambulance Service were called to Mason Street at about 20:30 BST on Friday.
Firefighters entered the property to rescue the two children, but they could not be saved; Medics worked "rapidly to administer advanced life support to both children but tragically they were both confirmed dead a short time later," West Midlands Ambulance Service said.
Two other children and a woman had evacuated before emergency services arrived and were checked over by ambulance staff but did not require hospital treatment.
Police have cordoned off the extensively damaged property to investigate the cause of the fire. Anyone with information can contact police on 101 quoting log 5640.
