Twins' Royce Lewis Heating up Ahead of Rematch vs. Cards
Royce Lewis went 6 for 19 with a double and a home run in his first five games back after refining his timing in Triple-A.
Royce Lewis has recorded six hits in 19 at-bats since returning to The Twins lineup, including a home run and double. Lewis said he feels "back to being comfortable" after his Triple-A stint.
While in the minor leagues, Lewis introduced a step-back move to improve his timing. He abandoned his previous leg kick, which he could not sustain following ACL injuries on his right knee.
Focusing on pregame work was the main emphasis for Lewis during his time away. "The focus, shoot, from like 1 o'clock to 7 o'clock... that was really the main emphasis for me," he said.
Reliever Cole Sands halted his rehab assignment due to renewed forearm symptoms on Thursday. General manager Jeremy Zoll reported pitcher Mick Abel is "feeling good" after three scoreless innings on Wednesday.
Top prospect Walker Jenkins is expected to play in a rehab game for Class-A Fort Myers on Saturday. Kendry Rojas plans to throw live batting practice in Florida, pending recovery from triceps issues.
