Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum shared global and national temperature and drought analyses for the last 10 years. In his statement, Minister Kurum noted that Türkiye's hottest year on record will be 2024, and its driest year since 1964 will be 2025.
While 2024 was Türkiye's hottest year on record, 2025 was recorded as the driest year since 1964. In 2025, annual rainfall was 27.6 percent below normal.
According to the climate analysis report for the period 2016-2025 published by the General Directorate of Meteorology, 2024 was the hottest year on record in Türkiye with an average temperature of 15.6 degrees Celsius. 2025, on the other hand, was recorded as the driest year since 1964.
