TUI, Ryanair, Wizz Air and Jet2 Ranked with Worst Routes for Delays
The leisure carrier’s UK departures averaged 20 minutes 24 seconds late in 2025, according to Civil Aviation Authority data analyzed by Press Association.
Tui Airways ranked as the fifth worst airline for UK punctuality last year, with departures averaging 20 minutes behind schedule, according to Civil Aviation Authority data analyzing 34 airlines.
Aage Dunhaupt, Tui Group director of communications, said the airline makes a conscious choice to operate flights rather than cancel them, prioritizing passenger destinations over punctuality metrics.
The least punctual route with at least 100 flights was Birmingham to Zante, averaging 46 minutes delay, while Air India recorded the poorest overall performance at 36 minutes.
Passengers may claim compensation of up to £520 if delays are within airline control. Rory Boland, editor of Which? Travel, called such service "unacceptable" amid fare rises.
CAA director Tim Johnson said long hold-ups "can cause significant disruption and inconvenience for passengers," adding airlines must "minimise the impact of delays" while upholding passenger rights.
