Trump rejects AI guardrails, says the only guardrails needed are a 'High IQ president'

On Monday, President Donald Trump rejected calls for new artificial intelligence regulations, dismissing concerns from industry leaders and specifically slamming Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei for urging development slowdowns.
Blaming a 'SICK conspiracy' for voter backlash regarding AI data centers and frontier models, the president claimed that only China benefits from the doubts cast on artificial intelligence development.
Trump insisted his administration possesses 'tremendous CRIMINAL and REGULATORY power' to stop AI companies from doing 'bad, or potentially bad' things, sarcastically labeling Amodei a 'perfect little angel.'
Industry leaders, including those at OpenAI and Microsoft, urged a pause in development over the weekend to ensure safety and preserve national security, leading to tech stocks tumbling on Monday.
Despite pressure from aides to deliver a prime-time address announcing new AI regulations, the president reiterated his belief that a 'STRONG AND SMART' president is the only guardrail needed.
