Trump is sitting on a $400 million war chest ahead of the midterms. But how will he spend it?
The money has mostly stayed on the sidelines as Republicans debate whether Trump will steer it to national ads or competitive local races.
On Friday, President Donald Trump announced plans to allocate $400 million to $500 million from his MAGA Inc. super PAC to boost Republican candidates in the November midterm elections.
Republicans in competitive races had expressed concern that Trump's $401 million war chest would remain on the sidelines instead of funding their campaigns ahead of November.
The group, an "unauthorized" hybrid PAC, has spent only about $21 million since 2025, with a major $827,000 payment to Sen. Darline Graham's Senate campaign being the most significant outlay.
Trump pledged Wednesday to make "a lot of stops" campaigning for House and Senate candidates, confirming plans to travel to Alaska to support Sen. Dan Sullivan.
The GOP will gather next week in Dallas for a midterm convention, while Trump indicated he expects funds to remain after November for potential use in the 2028 election.
