- Shawn VanDiver, a Navy veteran who heads #AfghanEvac, called the reprieve a "victory" for resident safety, though he emphasized that a permanent solution remains necessary. The State Department pledged to continue identifying voluntary resettlement options for residents.
- Secretary of State Marco Rubio is expected to sign the diplomatic note formalizing this extension. Previously, reports indicated the administration considered resettlement locations including Congo, though residents remain stranded at the base despite the temporary reprieve.
