Trump goes unmentioned but not ignored as Clinton, Bush and Obama step up as essayists on presidents
The essays have drawn more than 1 million views on Substack and explore presidential power, democracy and the limits of partisanship.
Former presidents George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Bill Clinton contributed essays to the "In Pursuit" project, a 250th-anniversary series featuring writings on 43 presidents and 30 first ladies.
Curated by U.S. archivist Colleen Shogan, the project aims to "surface the lessons from the past 250 years of American history," despite Shogan being fired by President Donald Trump last year.
