Zelenskyy sees no fast end to war after meeting with U.S. envoys
Ukraine is resigned to Russia’s war dragging on through another tough winter and is looking for a “package” from allies that would cover air defense reinforcements as well as energy, including U.S. liquefied natural gas. Zelenskyy spoke to reporters after talks in Kyiv with President Donald Trump’s negotiating duo, Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff.
Kiev (Ukraine): The two American envoys sent by President Donald Trump to Moscow and Kiev made new proposals that were more useful to end the war with Russia, according to the Ukrainian presidency. But Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelinski expressed his fear that the war would continue until next winter, given the unwillingness of his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, to negotiate directly with him.
Donald Trump promised during his campaign that he would end the conflict in Ukraine within 24 hours of his return to the White House in January 2025.
