Trump Pays Tribute to Ted Turner but Slams His ‘Baby' CNN: 'It Became Woke'

On Wednesday, media mogul and CNN founder Ted Turner died at 87. Turner revolutionized broadcasting by launching CNN in 1980 and expanding cable through his WTBS superstation.
Turner founded TNT, TCM, and Cartoon Network before selling his media empire to Time Warner in 1995 for $6.5 billion. He also established the Turner Foundation in 1990 to protect and restore natural systems.
Industry leaders honored the trailblazer on Wednesday, including Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav, Rupert Murdoch, Mark Lazarus, and Brian Roberts. Zaslav praised Turner's 'entrepreneurial spirit' and willingness to take risks.
President Donald Trump released a statement Wednesday honoring Turner but argued the mogul was 'personally devastated' that CNN 'became woke.' Trump claimed new ownership destroyed Turner's 'baby.'
Referencing Paramount's $110 billion megadeal to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery, Trump shared hopes that the Ellisons could restore CNN's credibility. He called Turner one of the 'Greats of Broadcast History.
