Troops Foil ISWAP Attack, Kill Several Terrorists, Recover Weapons in Borno

  • On Saturday, Operation Hadin Kai troops repelled a coordinated ISWAP attack at a Forward Operating Base in Mairari, thwarting the overnight assault with coordinated ground and air operations.
  • Attackers deployed two Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Devices which were detected and destroyed by defensive fire, causing minor damage at two roadside locations near Mairari, Lt Colonel Sani Uba said.
  • Following the thwarted assault, joint forces including OPHK Sector 3 troops, the Theatre Command Quick Reaction Group, Nigeria Police Crack Team, and Civilian Joint Task Force recovered numerous casualties and seized items including AK-47 rifles, PKT rounds, hand grenades, motorcycles, communications gear, and medical supplies.
  • Command emphasised there was no breach, underscoring vigilance and operational readiness and professionalism of command personnel and troops on duty at the Mairari Forward Operating Base.
  • Operation Hadin Kai will continue aggressive patrols to deter terrorist activity and reassure local communities in Borno State, prioritizing protecting civilians, disrupting networks, and restoring peace.
