Ellesmere Port Boy, 6, Who Was Killed by Car 'Brought so Much Joy'
Police say a 48-year-old man was arrested as donations for the boy’s family passed £18,000 and witnesses were urged to come forward.
On Sunday, April 19, six-year-old Kanan-Jay McLeod died after being struck by a black Infiniti FX30D on Anchor Drive in Ellesmere Port. He was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital, where medics were unable to save him.
Cheshire Police arrested a 48-year-old man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and drug driving. The suspect was released on bail pending further enquiries under reference IML 2311765.
In a moving tribute issued through Cheshire Police, the family described Kanan-Jay as a 'beautiful and bubbly' boy and 'cheeky little character' who loved Liverpool Football Club and spending time with his cousins and uncles.
A fundraising page set up by Kanan-Jay's auntie to cover funeral costs has drawn significant public support, with donations surpassing £18,000 to assist the family during this difficult time.
