The Supervisory Board of Metro AG has appointed Eric Riegger as Chairman of the Management Board. Effective October 1, 2026, he will succeed the departing Dr. Steffen Greubel, combining his new role with his current responsibilities as Group Chief Financial Officer.
After differences about the future orientation of the wholesale group, Metro CEO Steffen Greubel resigns at the end of September. The successor is to become the former Aldi manager and former Metro Chief Financial Officer Eric Riegger.
Because of "different views" about the future of the Group, Steffen Greubel leaves Metro and hands over the leadership to his Chief Financial Officer. Eric Riegger, who has gained international experience at Lidl and Aldi, is to make the Group more profitable.
