Chelsea Make Bergvall Decision After Tottenham Transfer Request
The 20-year-old has asked to leave after his role was reduced under Roberto De Zerbi, with Chelsea and Aston Villa among the interested clubs.
Lucas Bergvall has informed Tottenham of his desire to leave the Premier League club this summer, seeking a new challenge elsewhere. The 20-year-old midfielder made his intentions clear following previous interest from rivals.
Under new Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi, Bergvall saw his playing time diminish as the coach favored a midfield trio of Rodrigo Bentancur, Joao Palhinha, and Conor Gallagher. This limited his opportunities at the club.
Tottenham previously rebuffed approaches from Chelsea and Aston Villa during the January transfer window, though suitors both domestically and abroad now remain alert to Bergvall's availability following his formal transfer request.
While Spurs previously resisted selling the midfielder, they are now more receptive to transfer talks as De Zerbi pursues new signings including Newcastle United's Sandro Tonali and West Ham's Mateus Fernandes.
Bergvall's focus currently remains on the Sweden World Cup campaign, where he became his nation's youngest player; Sweden faces Japan in their final Group F match on Friday.
