The multinational's board of directors today approved the renewal of the 64-year-old leader's term of office, which will be put to the vote at the general meeting in 2027.
The hydrocarbon giant announces that the renewal of the term of office of its leader, at the head of the group since 2014, will be submitted to the shareholders' vote at the general meeting in May 2027.
"On the proposal of the Governance and Ethics Committee, he decided unanimously that the renewal of Patrick Pouyanné's term of office will be proposed to the General Assembly in May 2027," the group announced in a press release. Patrick Pouyanné, 63 years old, took over from the group in October 2014 as general manager before cumulating this position with that of president in December 2015. The general assembly voted in May to amend the statutes to raise the age limit of the CEO from 70 to 75, which theoretically allows Patrick Pouyanné to remain at the head of the group beyond 2030, the year of the end of the next term.
