Tokyo Police Arrest Head of Resignation Assistance Firm
Tokyo, Feb. 3 (Jiji Press) — Tokyo police on Tuesday arrested the head of Albatross Co., the provider of the high-profile “Momuri” resignation assistance service, and his wife, who is an employee of the firm, on suspicion of introducing customers to lawyers for fees in violation of the attorneys law.
Arrested suspect Shinji Tanimoto reported that a search of his home had been conducted in October 2025, and commented, "We take this matter very seriously and will continue to respond appropriately to the Metropolitan Police Department's investigation."
On the 3rd, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department arrested Shinji Tanimoto (37), president of Albatross, the company that operates Momuri, and his wife, Shiori (31), an employee, on suspicion of violating the Lawyers Act in connection with Momuri, a resignation proxy service that receives requests from people who wish to resign and notifies their employers of their intention to resign on their behalf.
