Seahawks Regroup After Loss, Look Toward Hosting the Chargers on Sunday
Sam Darnold returned with 379 yards and four touchdowns, but Seattle turned it over three times and missed key red-zone chances.
On Sunday, the Washington Commanders defeated the Seattle Seahawks 33-31 in Landover, snapping a 12-game winning streak that lasted 314 days.
Quarterback Sam Darnold returned from his glute injury just 18 days after leaving Lumen Field in an ambulance, having missed the Seahawks' first two victories of the season.
Three turnovers generated 21 Commanders points, with Darnold throwing two second-half interceptions including a pick-six with under four minutes left. He acknowledged, "I think obviously I can't turn the ball over the way that I did."
Receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba recorded 128 yards and two touchdowns on 10 catches, joining Hall of Famer Jerry Rice as the only players with at least 120 receiving yards and a touchdown in each of their team's first three games.
Coach Mike Macdonald expressed optimism after reviewing tape, saying "The exciting thing is, it's early in the season and we have an opportunity to go make it right" as the Seahawks return home Sunday to face the 0-3 Chargers.
