Tim Walz claims title of ‘fastest governor in America’
Walz finished in 1:52:51 and ranked 20th among 110 men in his age group, then joked that he was the fastest governor in America.
On Saturday, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz finished the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon in Duluth's Canal Park with a time of 1 hour, 52 minutes, 51 seconds.
Walz ran alongside his daughter, Hope Walz, who persuaded him to participate in the half-marathon event held in Duluth.
The governor placed 20th of 110 men in his age group, averaging 8:37 per mile, while noting he faces only 49 other competitors among sitting governors.
Walz joked he was "the fastest governor in America," insisting "Oh, it's not disputable," while Hope acknowledged his speed without disagreement.
Praising the event, Walz described the Grandma's marathon weekend as "the best organized marathon in America," noting the "crowds were great.
