Tim Mastnak achieved the best Slovenian ranking at the home World Cup snowboarding competition on Rogla. He was just a hair too short in the small final and took fourth place. Gloria Kotnik also competed in the pre-Olympic general classification in the elimination bouts, but withdrew and was 14th. The winners were Japan's Tsubaki Miki and Korea's Lee Sangho.
Snowboarders compete in the last World Cup match before heading to Livigno in Rogla today ahead of the Olympic Games in Italy. In front of the home crowd, Gloria Kotnik and Tim Mastnak secured the elimination matches from the Slovenians. The latter was 11th in the qualifications, while Kotnik was 14th.
The snowboarding caravan is competing today at Rogla, where the parallel giant slalom is taking place. Gloria Kotnik (14th place) and Tim Mastnak (11th place) successfully passed the morning qualifications, while Žan Košir and Rok Marguč failed to make it to the elimination matches. These will start at 1 p.m., when the last match before the Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina will be scheduled.
