With three virtual reality works in the Venice Immersive competition, the Netherlands is one of the leading countries at the Venice Film Festival. Now that the VR world is beginning to mature, questions such as: how do you deal with such digital heritage?
This year's Venice Film Festival will feature three Lithuanian premieres - Tomas Tamošaitis' virtual reality film "Eyes of Shame" and two Lithuanian co-productions "Letters from a Silent Country" and "Empire". The festival's independent program will also feature a film shot by cinematographer Vytautas Katkus, according to a press release from the Lithuanian Film Centre.
George Clooney and Danny Boyle are starting the Venice Film Festival tonight. The Ocean's Eleven star will receive the award for the entire career, and the British director will have the premiere of the film "Ink" which describes how the American magnate Rupert Murdoch bought the British painting "The Sun". Romania will be represented by the debut film of director Alina Şerban.
The 83rd Venice International Film Festival begins on September 2. Along with the most prominent filmmakers, Lithuanian names are also being heard at the festival – the festival's competition program "Venice Immersive" presents the animated virtual reality (VR) film "Eyes of Shame" by Lithuanian director Tomas Tamošaitis.
