Three children perish in massive Kg Lok Buta village fire
- A fire in Kampong Lok Buta near Kota Kinabalu destroyed hundreds of wooden and semi-permanent squatter homes in the water village.
- Firefighters arrived at around 1:40am, used seawater and water from their trucks to battle the blaze, and knocked down four houses to stop its spread.
- Three children died in the fire, and their charred remains were found after the blaze was controlled at 6:26am.
- Operations at the fire site were ongoing following the fire being brought under control.
