Third-period explosion lifts Vancouver Canucks to 4-1 win over Calgary Flames

On Saturday at Rogers Arena, the Vancouver Canucks erased a 1-0 deficit by scoring four unanswered third-period goals, defeating the visiting Calgary Flames 4-1.
Pacific Division rivals Luke Schenn and Adam Klapka fought early in the game, before Matt Coronato opened the scoring for Calgary on a power-play goal at 14:51.
Liam Ohgren, Defenceman Elias Pettersson, Drew O'Connor, and Aatu Raty scored for the Canucks, while Leevi Merilainen stopped 23 shots in his first start despite trailing 19-14 in shots through two periods.
Defenceman Filip Hronek recorded eight blocked shots in nearly 29 minutes of ice time, helping the Canucks clamp down defensively after allowing 14 goals in their first two games.
The Canucks host the Vegas Golden Knights Sunday at 6 p.m. at Rogers Arena, while Calgary remains winless after falling to 0-2-0 in the standings.
