Danguolė Bublienė, Chairwoman of the Judicial Council and the Supreme Court of Lithuania (SCL), met with Mindaugas Sinkevičius, the SCL reported on Thursday.
"The meeting discussed the implementation of the Government's program provision, which commits to ensuring the professionalism and independence of courts and strengthening the corps of assistant judges. The most relevant issues for the judicial system were discussed - insufficient funding, lack of human resources, the state of court infrastructure and other systemic challenges," the Supreme Court of Lithuania said in a statement.
The chairwoman of the Judicial Council read an anonymous letter about pigs in robes. Several members at the meeting attributed the hatred facing judges to the opposition and the media.
