- Helgeland is scripting a new story following the comic series, though a director remains unset for the project currently in early development at Sony.
- Actor Jamie Foxx and actor Antonio Banderas have not signed onto the film, which is expected to follow the bounty hunter Django and masked vigilante Zorro.
- Although Tarantino gave his blessing for the project, the filmmaker is preparing his final directorial effort, having previously scrapped plans for a drama titled "The Movie Critic.
