Fuller Version of Trump Security Strategy Reportedly Calls for "Pulling Poland Away From EU"
The draft strategy supports sovereignty-focused European parties and proposes a new Core 5 group, excluding Europe, to replace the G7, according to Defense One.
- On Tuesday, Defense One published extracts from a fuller National Security Strategy that circulated inside the administration before the White House released an unclassified version late Thursday night.
- Michael Anton, Director of Policy Planning, State Department, drafted the first version but left before completion amid disputes, while Stephen Miller, deputy chief of staff, may have finished it amid internal friction involving Sergio Gor, Office of Presidential Personnel Director.
- The unpublished strategy proposes a Core 5 and calls for Washington to support parties and cultural figures seeking sovereignty, naming Austria, Hungary, Italy, and Poland to pull away from the EU.
- As reporting emerged, senior security aides to President Karol Nawrocki arrived in Washington for talks, while the official 33-page National Security Strategy warns of 'civilisational erasure' and Poland's more liberal, pro-EU government reacted less positively, the National Security Bureau @BBN_PL said.
- Taken together, the draft's aims seek to align DEI, climate and immigration policy areas internationally, advocate withdrawing from Europe's defence to refocus on the Western Hemisphere, and propose new leadership vehicles to reshape global alliances.

Michael Anton and the Secret National Security Strategy
Lawrence Freedman must have finished his post on the National Security Strategy before the latest news on it, which is that there’s an even more alarming longer version. Nevertheless, Freedman’s observations about the process behind the document — that Michael Anton is thought to have started it, before he left in September, and Stephen Miller may have finished it — provide one possible explanation for why the document is so short, shoddy, and u…
