Scott Bessent, the US Treasury Secretary, on Sunday described a meeting with Chinese officials on trade and artificial intelligence as very successful, adding that the two countries discussed closer cooperation on the threats posed by artificial intelligence.
The US and China brought artificial intelligence and trade to the table ahead of the Trump-Xi summit. Washington proposed a reporting mechanism for AI cases that reach national security levels, while the possibility of tariff reductions on some products was also discussed.
