The power generation at the Tiszalök Hydropower Plant has been stopped after the exceptional drought that has lasted for months caused the water supply to the Tisza to drop significantly. The water authorities have ordered exceptional water management, with the provision of drinking water and protecting the ecological balance as a priority for the available water resources.
The primary task of the power plant is to regulate water flow, i.e. to keep Lake Tisza alive; energy production is secondary.
