55 years ago, on December 11, 1970, John Lennon's first regular solo album, an LP called Plastic Ono Band, was released. Lennon had previously released three avant-garde albums with Yoko Ono in 1968 and 1969 – Two Virgins, Life with the Lions and the Wedding Album – so this was his first solo collection of standard songs.
