Some of the largest heavy transport operations in the history of the Icelandic road network begin tonight when huge wind turbine components are transported from Þorlákshöfn to the highlands at Sultartangi. Reporter Kristján Már Unnarsson was live from Þorlákshöfn tonight.
Heavy transport of materials for the wind turbines of the country's first wind power plant, Vaðöldu, begins tonight. The transports will generally take place six nights a week for the next 7-10 weeks. The material will travel over 130 kilometers, from Þorlákshöfn to Vaðöldu, where 28 wind turbines are to be built in the coming years.
