The crash happened during Operation Epic Fury, part of a broader Iran-related mission; 13 U.S. service members have died since Feb. 28, Pentagon said.
- On Thursday, a KC-135 Stratotanker crashed over western Iraq, killing six U.S. service members during a combat mission supporting Operation Epic Fury. The Pentagon confirmed the incident occurred in friendly airspace.
- Gen. Dan Caine, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, stated the crash occurred over "friendly territory" and ruled out hostile or friendly fire. U.S. Central Command reported an unspecified incident involving another aircraft, which landed safely.

- Jim Cardoso, Senior Director at USF's Global and National Security Institute, noted the Air Force fleet is the oldest it has ever been. He urged congressional appropriators to "look at how we replace some of those aircrafts."
- The aging KC-135 fleet is scheduled to be phased out as the KC-46A Pegasus enters service. According to the Associated Press, this crash brings the total U.S. service members killed in the ongoing Iran operation to 13.
