Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majid al-Ansari said the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement is promising for regional security. Speaking at a panel in Doha, Ansari stated that US-Iran dialogue channels remain open and that there is no alternative to the Strait of Hormuz.
The pact, signed by Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan, considers an attack on one of them an attack on all. The members of the pact are holding an emergency meeting due to the Houthi attack.
