The National Assembly today adopted the Act on the Gradual Closure of the Velenje Coal Mine, which sets out the necessary activities to cease mining in Velenje and then liquidate the company. Coal extraction is to cease by 2033, and all procedures are to be completed by the end of 2045. The Act pays great attention to the social consequences of exiting coal.
