US President Donald Trump again caused attention with a post on his own social network Truth Social, after sharing a photo of the moon and adding the short message “The moon is ours” to it. In doing so, he revived an old Washington claim to the Earth's natural satellite. However, such an application contradicts international rules on the use of space.
Giving your favorite star or securing your rights to the Moon is romantic, but legally pointless. Attorney Andrey Aleshkin, in a comment for Life.ru, explained why space objects cannot be owned by anyone, and why even certificates do not give any rights.
