- Meteorologists and almanac tools advise viewing the moon late at night and before dawn, with Rochester's moonrise at roughly 3:58 p.m. Dec. 4 and White Plains' at about 3:51 p.m., while daylight saving time change ensures darkness across the U.S.
- Skywatchers have one last chance to see a supermoon in 2025 before the Wolf Moon on Jan. 3, 2026, while a polar vortex will bring colder U.S. temperatures, so bundle up.
- Look also to mid-December when the Geminid meteor shower could produce over 100 meteors per hour, peaking Dec. 13-14, and the Ursid meteor shower peaks Dec. 21-22 near the winter solstice on Dec. 21.
