The migration crisis in Ceuta has also led to increased pressure and workload in the city's courts. The General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) has deemed it "necessary" to reinforce the on-call staff at the investigating courts and the bodies with jurisdiction over violence against women, given the increased workload and, especially, the number of proceedings related to alleged sexual offenses. The General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) considers that it is necessary to strengthen the guard duty in the investigative courts of Ceuta and the courts of violence against women in the handling of cases for alleged sexual offences , all with the aim of « dealing with the migration crisis» facing the autonomous city after the massive influx of Moroccan immigrants on 30 and 31 July .
According to data from the report collected by the governing body of the judges, 96 pre-trial proceedings were initiated between July 30 and August 5.
