The one-hour blackout in commemoration of Ozone Day did not dampen the enthusiasm of residents visiting the Hotel Indonesia (HI) Roundabout area, Central Jakarta, Saturday (19/9) evening.
The Jakarta Provincial Government turned off lights at several of the capital's iconic landmarks for one hour to encourage residents to conserve energy and protect the environment.
The lights on a number of Jakarta's main and iconic roads were turned off for 60 minutes on Saturday, September 19, 2026. |The blackout took place at 8:30-9:30 PM WIB and covered Monas, Bundaran HI to Jalan Sudirman. |Government buildings, shopping centers, hotels, restaurants, and a number of private buildings were also affected by the blackout.
Tomorrow, Jakarta will turn off the lights for 60 minutes.
