Germany's Deutschlandticket to Cost €66.80 From 2027

The third increase since 2023 follows cost-index calculations that factor in staff, energy and operating expenses, officials said.

  • The Deutschlandticket Co-ordination Council confirmed on Wednesday that Germany's nationwide public transport pass will cost €66.80 per month from January 2027, up from the current €63.
  • Since its May 2023 launch, the Deutschlandticket has risen repeatedly: from €49 initially to €58 in 2025, then to €63 at the start of 2026. This marks the third consecutive price increase.
  • D-Tix calculated the new rate using a cost index for staff, energy, and operating expenses. Currently, around 14.5 million people use the pass for regional and local travel across Germany.
  • The German Association for the Environment and Nature Conservation criticized the hike, with Head of Transport Policy Jens Hilgenberg saying the constant discussions create "uncertainty" and questioning the €2.5 billion "fuel rebate."
  • Discounted versions will also rise, with the Semesterticket reaching €40.08 and The Jobticket €63.46. Detlef Neu from Pro Bahn said "Enough is enough for now," calling for discounts for users.
