On March 19, 2026, the Chamber of Deputies approved the call for applications to elect the three electoral councilors of the National Electoral Institute (INE) who will replace those whose terms will end on April 4, including Jorge Montaño Ventura, who was appointed along with the current president of the council, Guadalupe Taddei Zavala, in the 2023 renewal.
The evaluation of applicants will take place between 30 March and 17 April.
On 22 April, the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Deputies was informed of the proposals made by candidates by the Jucopo and the vote was scheduled to take place in plenary on the same day.
