First Look: 2027 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk Returns With More Off-Road Capability
The revived trim adds a one-inch lift, skid plates and all-terrain tires, while Jeep says orders are open and production starts later this year.
Jeep officially reintroduced the off-road-focused 2027 Cherokee Trailhawk, with orders now open starting at $44,625. The model expands the Cherokee lineup with specialized equipment and a higher ride height for enhanced capability.
While the sixth-gen Cherokee arrived in 2026 with standard all-wheel drive, it lacked low-range gears or locking differentials. The new Trailhawk addresses these gaps, finally earning the 'Trail-Rated' badge by integrating aggressive off-road hardware into the hybrid powertrain.
Upgrades include a one-inch suspension lift raising ground clearance to 9.0 inches and Jeep's 'Active Drive II' system with a two-speed transfer case and electronic locking rear differential. Steel skid plates and a 24-inch water-fording depth complete the off-road package.
Production at the Toluca, Mexico facility begins later this year, utilizing the 1.6-liter turbocharged hybrid system delivering 210 horsepower. Efficiency drops to an estimated 31 mpg combined versus 37 mpg for the standard Cherokee.
A next-generation Cherokee based on Stellantis' new STLA One platform is expected in the first half of 2028. This launch follows intensifying competition in the 4x4-adjacent market, where Jeep aims to strengthen its off-road position.
