Texans’ DeMeco Ryans Praises Rookie Marlin Klein After Catch vs Chargers in His NFL Debut
Ryans said Klein showed promise in 11 snaps, citing the rookie’s 31-yard catch and blocking in his NFL debut.
On Thursday, Houston Texans rookie Marlin Klein made his NFL debut against the Los Angeles Chargers, recording a 31-yard reception during the team's 27-7 loss.
Klein, a tight end who played at Michigan, moved from Germany to the United States at age 16 to pursue his football dreams. "It's something that I've been dreaming about ever since I was a little kid," he said.
Texans coach DeMeco Ryans praised the rookie's performance, noting his catch radius and blocking ability. "Watching him blocking in the running game, I saw him finishing some blocks there exactly how we want it done," Ryans said.
Amar Johnson led the Los Angeles Chargers to victory, scoring two touchdowns and recording a 55-yard reception during the game.
Both teams return next Thursday night: the Texans host Las Vegas while the Chargers host San Francisco, continuing their preseason schedules.
